The 1-in-4 debate (see the article) has been going on since Lorena Ochoa got a hefty $25,000 fine. She later exercised her option of one time exemption to avoid paying it. I think most of the fans have indicated a dislike for this rule and Ron Sirak goes on to explain the importance of it by sighting quotes from players, tournament owners and sponsors.

Needless to say there are many supporters and opponents of this rule depending on which view you're taking. I can see how important this rule is to the owners and sponsors wanting the leaders to be in their tournament and at the same time, with so many tournaments, its pretty tiring for some of the LPGA leaders. This rule doesn't seem to apply to international tournaments tournaments which LPGA is in the process of expanding to more countries. I'm not sure why that is but that's what it is!

My question to you is: Should this rule be adapted by the PGA Tour or not. Seems like a lot of players miss more tournaments in the PGA Tour than the LPGA Tour. A lot of work is going on there and so far most of it has been yanking out the trees, which is still going on. I am told this is part of the reshaping of the course that everyone will love once it is completed. I hope they're right because for my money, the trees didn't bother anybody, they were not even in play. They did provide some shade in the hot Summer days and maybe broke the wind some when it is blowing hard from the north in Winter. You may not agree with this and that's fine and maybe when the whole thing is completed we would all praise the decision but for now it seems they're spending a lot of money to bare the golf course. All I can say is that it is awesome. Ignoring the golf course, the conditions, the pro shop, just seeing all the pros from close by and watching them struggle or just cream a drive was worth it. I got to tell you it was very cold both Saturday and Sunday mornings specially if you didn't have a lot of cloths on ,like me. The cold was really penetrating and went all the way to the bones, but what the hell, I was there and all those wonderful guys were there too so I thought I would just hang in there and bear it. I stood on the side of the #2 tee box and was just 3 yards away from them when they got to the tee box. I watched close, saw their alignment and their swings. Just awesome. Most all of them were not saying a word to the folks watching them except for Fuzzy Zoller and Ben Crenshaw. I guess they are the old school and still say howdy to the gallery. I tried to go everywhere I could. I spent a lot of time on #18 green on Saturday and watched till Tiger Woods came through and then I left! I spent most of Sunday behind #7 green. What a good point to be at. I could see #2 approach, #3 tee box, #8 2nd shot and of course the approach and putting on #7 green. Awesome. And the ending was even more exciting.
